Mata Khivi Ji | Mothers of the Panth | By Bibi Gurprit Kaur
Before undertaking tasks, we often take in to consideration ‘what others might say, what others might think’. This was prevalent in the time of Guru Angad Dev Ji just as much as it is now. When Guru Ji was given the Gur Gaddi (Guru’s throne), Mata Khivi Ji took up the immense seva (selfless service) of feeding the congregation that came to visit Guru Ji. In this video, Bibi Gurprit Kaur describes how Mata Khivi Ji went against the stigma of the time and unwaveringly carried out the seva of Langar (free communal food), because her Guru’s happiness was more important than anything else. ਬਲਵੰਡ ਖੀਵੀ ਨੇਕ ਜਨ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਛਾਉ ਪਤ੍ਰਾਲੀ ॥
